Personalized health solutions, unification of data and AI-driven workflows may become dominant in healthtech innovation. These technologies enable healthcare providers to deliver highly personalized care, improve diagnostic accuracy and enhance patient outcomes. By leveraging data from various sources, including wearable devices and electronic health records, AI algorithms can provide insights that inform treatment decisions and predict potential health issues.
Preventive healthcare
I think fall prevention and detection is going to be one of the most important things. We know that falls can have a massive impact on people's lives and there are many things that folks can do to prevent falls.
I think there are opportunities to combine fall prevention strategies and education with fall detection technology and we need to think about making the technology as easy and seamless as possible.
Human biohacking
Regulation around human biohacking is currently limited; and given the DIY and unreported nature of the processes, the success rates and accuracy of biohacks are hard to gauge.
Nevertheless, some countries have started taking some regulatory measures. Most EU Member States require biohackers to have a licence to carry out experiments; and in states such as Germany, infringement can lead to imprisonment. In the US, some biohacking activities are illegal such as agrobacterium-engineered plants and soil bacteria cultures.
Healthcare ecosystems
The combination of robotic-assisted solution (RAS) and end-to-end (E2E) treatment platforms will evolve into knowledge management platforms, enabling stakeholders to access integrated ecosystems.
These ecosystems contain patient pathway solutions (provided as cloud-based SaaS models), surgical applications including RAS, and access to global databases. They offer workflow benchmarks, outcome comparisons and economic KPIs based on Value-Based Care (VBC), such as revision rate reduction, surgical adverse event avoidance, idle time reduction and length of stay reduction, among others. It is a journey but it will inevitably democratize access to high-quality surgical care, allowing patients in remote or underserved areas to benefit from the expertise of skilled surgeons located elsewhere.
