The EU AI Act is coming into force, but many organizations still assume it only concerns AI vendors or high-risk use cases. In reality, its scope extends to companies developing AI systems, deploying AI internally and placing AI‑enabled products on the EU market.
The EU AI Act is the world’s first comprehensive legal framework for artificial intelligence in the EU. It uses a risk-based approach, setting strict obligations for high-risk AI systems, transparency requirements for limited-risk uses, and prohibitions for certain unacceptable applications, all with the goal of ensuring safety, protecting fundamental rights and supporting trustworthy innovation.
